FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ozarks Electric Cooperative Celebrates National Lineman Appreciation Day Fayetteville, Ark. – Ozarks Electric Cooperative is proud to be joining electric cooperatives around the country in recognizing Monday, April 11, 2016, as National Lineman Appreciation Day, honoring the hardworking men and women who often work in challenging conditions to keep the power on. Ozarks Electric is recognizing all electric lineworkers for the services they perform around the clock in dangerous conditions to keep the power on and protect the public’s safety. “This is a special day that honors a group of people who dedicate their lives to helping improve the lives of our members,” said Mitchell Johnson, president/CEO of Ozarks Electric. “They work all hours of the day, often in hazardous conditions and far from their families, going above and beyond to restore power to the communities we serve. Our lineworkers, as well as those from all across the country, truly deserve this special day of recognition. “As we recently passed a significant safety milestone of five years without a lost workday accident, I can think of no better time to honor those whose nature of work is among the most dangerous in the country," said Johnson. "This is a truly special acknowledgement and I could not be more proud of the work they do.” The cooperative invites its members to take a moment to thank a lineman for the work they do. Ozarks Electric, incorporated in 1938, is a member-owned electric cooperative, serving more than 70,000 meters across nine counties in Northwest Arkansas and Northeast Oklahoma.
